1000 Guineas Betting Guide
Newmarket has been the home of Flat racing for over 300 years and it hosts the first major flat racing betting race of the season. The 1000 Guineas is run over the famous Rowley Mile Course and usually it is a very open betting market. Virtually all the major online bookmakers offer a 1000 Guineas Free Horse Racing Bets to new customers.
The Rowley Mile is named after King Charles II "Old Rowley" who founded the Newmarket Races meetings following his restoration to the throne in 1660.
The Rowley Mile is one of two courses at Newmarket, the other one being the July course. The dominant feature of the racecourse is its magnificent Millennium Grandstand which also dominates the Newmarket skyline. The Rowley Mile course features the best of Newmarket meetings both in early and late season. The 1000 Guineas takes place in the early season in May and is the second day feature of the famous Guineas Festival, sponsored by Stan James Bookmakers. A really good 1000 Guineas Tips is to try and pick a horse that may have had a previous run on the course, as the dip on the course very often takes newcomers by surprise and can seriously affect the performance.
The Stan James 2000 Guineas Betting takes place on the last weekend in April and is for the colts. Like the 1000 Guineas the 2000 Guineas is run over the Rowley Mile.
